Rose announces addition of Lee, transfer of Brown
PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s basketball coach Dave Rose announced today that freshman big man Kolby Lee has enrolled in school and has been added to the roster. Rose also announced the transfer of junior guard Kajon Brown.
Lee, a 6-foot-9 forward from Meridian, Idaho, signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Cougars in November 2016 while playing for Dane Roy at Rocky Mountain High School. As a senior in 2016-17, Lee averaged 16.6 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game while leading Rocky Mountain to a 26-1 record and the school’s first state title. He was the 2017 Idaho Gatorade Player of the Year and the 5A Idaho Statesman Player of the Year.
As a junior, Lee averaged 14.8 points and 8.9 rebounds while leading Rocky Mountain to a record of 19-7. Lee competed in the 2016 NBPA Top 100 High School Camp at the University of Virginia.
Brown, a 6-foot-5 guard from Harvey, Louisiana, appeared in nine games for the Cougars this season. He totaled seven points, one assist and two steals.
Prior to BYU, Brown played his sophomore season at Lee College in Baytown, Texas, where he averaged 8.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists. Brown played his freshman season at Tulsa in 2015-16 where he appeared in six games and made one start.
