Final exhibition brings Colorado College to Provo
PROVO, Utah – BYU men's basketball will host Colorado College Wednesday at 7 p.m. MST in the Marriott Center in its third and final exhibition prior to the 2017-18 season.
Behind 25 points and 14 rebounds from Yoeli Childs, the Cougars defeated Westminster 76-62 last Wednesday in the team’s second exhibition of the preseason. Elijah Bryant added 17 points and six boards while TJ Haws had a team-high seven assists.
The Cougars opened exhibition play on Oct. 27 with a 79-73 win at New Mexico in a charity game. Childs led BYU with 17 points and game highs of 19 rebounds and four blocks against New Mexico while Haws (14 points), Bryant (13) and Luke Worthington (12) also scored in double figures.
Colorado College is an NCAA Division III institution in Colorado Springs, Colorado, that competes in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Tigers are coming off a 73-71 win over UCCS in their first exhibition game. Eric Houska led the way with a game-high 26 points.
The top five returning scorers from the 2016-17 squad return, including John Hatch (17.5 points per game), Houska (17.1), Chris Martin (10.0), CooXooEii Black (9.6) and Ryan Young (7.1). Colorado College was 11-14 overall and 10-4 in conference play last season.
BYU opens the 2017-18 season on Saturday, Nov. 11, at home against Mississippi Valley State. The game will tip at 7 p.m. MST and will be televised live on BYUtv and broadcast on the BYU Sports Network on BYU Radio Sirius XM 143, KSL Newsradio 102.7 FM/1160 AM and BYUcougars.com.
