Rose announces roster changes

PROVO, Utah – BYU coach Dave Rose announced that Jamal Aytes, Steven Beo and Davin Guinn will not return to the program in 2017-18.

Aytes, a 6-foot-6 junior forward, is graduating from BYU in the spring. He is planning to transfer and will be eligible immediately per NCAA graduate transfer rules. Aytes, a native of San Diego, California, averaged 2.1 points and 1.2 rebounds while shooting 56.1 percent from the field and 70.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Beo, a 6-foot-3 guard, averaged 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds and added 27 assists during his freshman campaign. The Richland, Washington, native will seek to transfer. Due to NCAA transfer rules, Beo will be required to sit out next season. He will then have three years of eligibility remaining.

Guinn, a 6-foot-5 guard, played in all 34 games and started one in 2016-17. He averaged 2.2 points and 2.1 rebounds while adding 21 steals. The Murrieta, California, native will forgo his senior season of eligibility to focus on school next year. Guinn is graduating this spring and has been admitted to the BYU Law School.
