Coastal Carolina Game Notes

Off to a 2-0 start, BYU basketball will look to remain undefeated when the Cougars host Coastal Carolina Saturday at 7:30 p.m. MST in the Marriott Center. The game is the second of two home contests for BYU that are a part of the Men Who Speak Up Main Event that will continue in Las Vegas next week at the MGM Grand.

Saturday's game will be televised live on BYUtv and broadcast live on the Cougar IMG Sports Network, 102.7 FM/1160 AM and BYU Radio – Sirius XM 143. Live video streaming will be available on

  • Yoeli Childs made a big impact against Coppin State, scoring 8 points on 4 of 5 shooting and grabbing 15 rebounds, tied for the fifth most by a BYU freshman. He also added 3 assists, 1 block and 1 steal.
  • Eric Mika has been a dominant presence through two games, averaging 22.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks while shooting 59.1 percent from the field and 90.0 percent from the free-throw line. Against Princeton he set career highs with 26 points and 18 rebounds.
  • BYU’s bench came up big against Coppin State as seven players combined to score 45 points. Elijah Bryant led the way with 11 points while Payton Dastrup had 9, Yoeli Childs had 8, Jamal Aytes added 7 and Davin Guinn scored 5.
