Three Cougars in NBA Summer League
Former BYU men’s basketball players Kyle Collinsworth, Brandon Davies and Jimmer Fredette are competing in the 2016 NBA Summer League.
Davies, top 15 at BYU in career points, rebounds, blocks and steals, is playing with the Detroit Pistons in Orlando and made his first appearance on Tuesday, July 5, against the Indiana Pacers. In the 80-76 victory, Davies posted three points, five rebounds, one assist and one steal in 11 minutes. Davies has two years experience in the NBA and played in France in 2015-16.
Collinsworth, the NCAA career and season triple-double record holder, has signed to play with the Dallas Mavericks in Las Vegas. He will make his debut on Saturday, July 9, at 7 p.m. PT against the Miami Heat. The Mavericks will also play Monday, July 11, against the Toronto Raptors (3:30 p.m. PT) and Tuesday, July 12, against the Boston Celtics (3 p.m. PT).
Fredette, a five-year NBA veteran and the 2011 National Player of the Year during his senior season at BYU, has signed to play with the Denver Nuggets in Las Vegas. The Nuggets make their debut on Friday, July 8, against the Minnesota Timberwolves at 5:30 p.m. PT. Denver also plays Saturday, July 9, against the Memphis Grizzlies (5 p.m. PT) and Monday, July 11, against the Miami Heat (5 p.m. PT).
