PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball coach Dave Rose announced today the hiring of Erick Schork as the team’s strength and conditioning coach. Schork comes to BYU from Saint Louis where he worked as the strength and conditioning coach for the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

Schork replaces Bob Medina, who left BYU to become the assistant athletic director for sports performance at Santa Clara.

“We are excited to have coach Schork join our program,” Rose said. “He brings a wealth of experience and expertise in a college basketball weight room. He is passionate about guys improving every day. We are fortunate to have Erick at BYU."

During Schork’s tenure at Saint Louis, the men’s basketball program experienced one of the most successful eras in program history. The Billikens set a program record by advancing to the NCAA tournament in three-straight years (2012, 2013 and 2014) while also achieving top-25 rankings each of those seasons. During that time, Saint Louis also won the 2012-13 and 2013-14 regular season conference titles and the 2013 Atlantic-10 tournament title.

In addition to working with the Saint Louis men’s and women’s basketball teams from 2007-16, Schork was promoted to assistant director of athletics for sports performance in 2014.

Before Saint Louis, Schork was the director of strength and conditioning at Wright State from 2003-07. At Wright State, Schork helped create a training program for the school’s 250 student-athletes. Prior to Wright State, Schork was an assistant strength coach at Ohio State from 1997-03.

In addition to his experience at the collegiate level, Schork has experience at the professional level, having worked with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills and the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL.

Schork is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. In May 2013, Schork was named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the CSCCa, the highest honor given in the strength and conditioning coaching profession.

Schork earned his bachelor’s degree at Springfield College in 1995 and his master’s at Western Michigan in 1997. He and his wife Amy have one daughter, Anna.
