PLAYER NOTES

Kyle Collinsworth finished with 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and tied his season high with five steals. It was his 140th game played as a BYU player, which is No. 3 in school history behind Charles Abouo. He also is ranked second in program history with 35 career games with 3-plus steals. Collinsworth finished his career with 1,700-plus points, 1,000-plus rebounds, 700-plus assists and 200-plus steals – the only player in the NCAA in the last 20 years with those totals.

Chase Fischer scored in double figures for the 25th time in the last 26 games, recording 16 points on 7-of-19 shooting and 2 of 6 from 3-point range. He extended his streak to 26 straight games with a 3 and broke a tie with Mark Bigelow (213) for 4th most 3s at BYU at 215. He passed Devin Durrant (1982-83) for 10th-most points scored in a season at BYU.

Zac Seljaas had a career-high three blocks and made a 3-pointer to extend his streak to 10 straight games with a trey.

Nick Emery had his 32nd game this season scoring in double figures with 18 points to go along with a career-high seven rebounds, four steals and two blocks. He has a streak of nine-straight games with a made 3-pointer and had 20 games with three or more 3s in his freshman season.

Kyle Davis and Corbin Kaufusi each had eight rebounds apiece to lead BYU.

TEAM NOTES

After being outrebounded 26-14 in first half, BYU swung the momentum on the glass with a 31-16 advantage in the second half. The Cougars finished with the 45-42 rebounding edge.

A BYU 16-6 run in the first six minutes of second half cut the deficit to 50-46.

The first lead of the game for BYU came at the 4:26 mark in the second half after Kyle Collinsworth’s three-point play pushed the Cougars up 64-63.

BYU recorded a season-high 16 steals while Valparaiso committed 20 turnovers.

The starting guards scored 54 of BYU’s 70 points (Collinsworth-20, Emery-18, Fischer-16).
