BYU went on an 8-0 run in just over 1 minute near the end of the first half to close the gap to a 1-point game and a put-back dunk by Kaufusi tied it at 47-47 at halftime. BYU ended the half making 5 of 6 from the field.

The Cougars outscored Gonzaga 40-28 in the paint, 7-0 in fastbreak points and 19-13 on points off of turnovers.

BYU head coach Dave Rose

"It wasn't for a lack of effort or a lack of energy or urgency. These guys played their hearts out trying to win this game. Gonzaga was just a little bit better tonight."

"They were 8 for 13 at halftime I think from three. Their guards really shot the ball well and Wiltjer shot the ball really well. We had to change how we were covering down on Sabonis. It was the 14 rebounds he got and the 29 from Wiltjer. That guy is really good against us and we have a hard time matching up against him. "

"That three [Wiltjer] hit in the corner was a huge one. It just gave everybody so much confidence. They all kind of get extra juice in their step."
