Collinsworth earns WCC and CBS Sports Player of the Week honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named Kyle Collinsworth of BYU and Kyle Wiltjer of Gonzaga its Men’s Basketball Co-Players of the Week for Nov. 30, 2015.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – KYLE COLLINSWORTH, SR., G - BYU

Senior guard Kyle Collinsworth averaged 18.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 3.0 steals and a block in wins against Belmont and Mississippi Valley State. Against Mississippi Valley State he filled the stat sheet with 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and four steals as the Cougars won, 75-68.

In BYU’s 95-81 win over Belmont, Collinsworth made NCAA history. Coming into the game, the 6-foot-6 senior out of Provo, Utah, was tied with Michael Anderson of Drexel and Shaquille O’Neal of LSU at six for the NCAA career triple-double record. Against the Bruins, Collinsworth set himself apart, totaling 26 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to become the NCAA’s career triple-double king. He now owns the NCAA’s single season and career triple-double records.

Collinsworth was also named the CBS Sports Player of the Week.

WEST COAST CONFERENCE CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK – KYLE WILTJER, SR., F - GONZAGA

Senior Kyle Wiltjer led Gonzaga to a 2-1 record at the Battle 4 Atlantis last week, including a victory over then-No. 18 UConn. He earned B4A All-Tournament honors, averaging 19.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, while shooting .500 from the field (21-for-42). He opened the tournament with a 24-point, 11-rebound double-double in a win over Washington. 

In the second game against No. 25 Texas A&M, Wiltjer knocked down four threes en route to 18 points and seven rebounds. Then in the UConn win, he knocked down three treys to total 17 points. For the week, Wiltjer also made 10-of-12 free throws (.833), had five assists and one steal. His 24 points against Washington marked his second 20-point effort of the season, and his double-digits in each game of the tournament marked the fifth time in five games to achieve that this season.
