BYU at Long Beach State Postgame Notes

TEAM NOTES

BYU outrebounded Long Beach State 51-43. Kyle Collinsworth led with 13 boards, Corbin Kaufusi added 10 and Kyle Davis posted nine rebounds.

The Cougars had 14 turnovers in the first half and finished with 24 turnovers. It was the highest number of turnovers since 29 against Pepperdine during the 2007-08 season.

BYU tied the game at 59-all on Collinsworth’s reverse layup with 4:51 remaining. It was the first tied game since a 10-10 tie at the 13:42 mark in the first half.

Corbin Kaufusi (17 points, 10 rebounds) and Kyle Collinsworth (12 points, 13 rebounds) posted double-doubles. Tonight's game was the first time two BYU players recorded double-doubles in the same game since the 2013-14 season against Portland when Collinsworth (18 points, 12 rebounds) and Eric Mika (11 points, 10 rebounds) accomplished the feat.

The Cougars outshot the 49ers 44.1 perent to 31.0 percent but made just 8 of 21 from the charity stripe for 38.1 percent, the lowest percentage in a game under head coach Dave Rose.

PLAYER NOTES

Corbin Kaufusi recorded career highs in points (17) and rebounds (10) and notched his first career double-double. He also had three blocks.

Kyle Collinsworth posted his 23rd career double-double and this was his 67th game scoring in double figures.

Kyle Davis just missed back-to-back double-doubles with 10 points and nine rebounds. He added two blocks and one steal.

Jamal Aytes came off the bench for his first action as a Cougar and put in eight points and four rebounds. He shot 4 of 5 from the field.

Jordan Chatman drained his first career threes, hitting two from behind the arc in the game. He finished with eight points, two rebounds and one block.
