PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s basketball embarked on its foreign trip today to Spain where it will play four games in 10 days.

Leading the way on the trip will be returning starters Nate Austin, Kyle Collinsworth, Chase Fischer and Corbin Kaufusi. Returning lettermen Cory Calvert, who played for the Cougars in 2012-13 before serving a two-year LDS mission in Boston, and Jake Toolson will also add experience to the roster.

Collinsworth returns for his senior season after a record-setting junior season when he posted an NCAA single-season record six triple-doubles. The six triple-doubles also tie the NCAA career record. Fischer is coming off a junior campaign that saw him hit 103 3-pointers, the second most in a single season at BYU. He also set the BYU single-game record for 3s with 10 against Chaminade at the Maui Invitational.

Joining the returning players will be transfers Kyle Davis and Jamal Aytes. Davis was a starter at Utah State before sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules. Aytes transferred to BYU from UNLV in January 2013. He missed last season due to an ankle injury. Both players are expected to give the Cougars more scoring options in the post.

Freshmen Cooper Ainge, Jordan Chatman, Nick Emery and Zac Seljaas are also on the trip to Spain. Ainge redshirted at BYU in 2012-13 before serving a mission in Chile. Chatman redshirted last season while Emery and Seljass come in as true freshmen. Emery served a mission after winning three Utah state titles at Lone Peak High School. Seljaas comes to BYU straight out of Bountiful High School, where he won back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015.

The Cougars will spend time in Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona during their 10-day trip to Spain. See below for the team’s game schedule.
