BYU celebrates 2014-15 season at annual banquet

PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s basketball celebrated another 25-win season and a trip to the NCAA tournament at its annual awards banquet Tuesday night at the Nu Skin Innovation Center in downtown Provo.
In 2014-15, the Cougars finished their 10th season under Dave Rose at 25-10 overall and second in the West Coast Conference regular season (13-5) and tournament. BYU has won 20-plus games and advanced to the postseason in all 10 seasons under Rose. The 2014-15 campaign was BYU’s seventh 25-win season and eighth trip to the NCAA tournament with Rose at the helm.
Other highlights in 2014-15 included Tyler Haws and Kyle Collinsworth earning several honors, including AP All-America honorable mention, first-team All-WCC and all-district from the USBWA and NABC. Haws was also named a Senior CLASS Award Second-Team All-American and Collinsworth was named to the Lute Olson All-America team. Anson Winder also earned All-WCC honorable mention.
Rose recognized and expressed gratitude to all those who helped make the 2014-15 season a success, including the players, coaches, coaches' wives, family members, doctors, trainers, managers, academic advisors and the many others who support the program.
Voice of the Cougars Greg Wrubell served as master of ceremonies and listed the numerous highlights, awards and milestones achieved by the team in 2014-15.
Rose presented the following team awards:
- Academic Excellence Award: Luke Worthington
- Best Conditioned Perimeter Player: Skyler Halford
- Best Conditioned Post Player: Luke Worthington
- Inspirational Player Award: Josh Sharp
- Most Improved Player Award: Corbin Kaufusi
- Sixth Man Award: Anson Winder
- Competitive Spirit Award: Skyler Halford
- Coaches’ Award: Chase Fischer
- Outstanding Player Award: Kyle Collinsworth and Tyler Haws
- Captain Award: Kyle Collinsworth, Chase Fischer and Tyler Haws
