Quotes from the Cougar IMG Sports Network

BYU head coach Dave Rose

Kyle's NCAA record for triple-doubles:

"He was special tonight. It was from the very tip, the very first possession, he was determined to give the effort we all needed in this game."

Pepperdine:

"It was a long couple days after that Pepperdine game because we played well enough to win that game in the first half and allowed them to move us around and do the things they wanted to do in the second half. We played with them and ended up getting beat.

"It's not often you get a chance to redo something that just happened. We were in the exact same spot up 10 or 11 at half, we're coming out and we talked about what we were going to do and they end up with 8 points in the first three possessions. We called timeout and somehow the guys got together and got it figured it out because we started to get stops and started to make it a real competitive game in the second half. At the end, we were really good and got the score up to where we could win it."

Timeout three possessions in to second half:

"I saw some real determined guys in that group. Sometimes you're talking about rebounds and the most determined guy is the smallest guy. Skyler is in there trying to get everyone motivated to go. I just liked the team effort tonight."

Sharp's performance:

"You make this adjustment in the starting lineup and we're trying to depend so much on these younger guys and we just felt like tonight we needed these seniors and they needed to do this. It's a really important game for us. Josh is the ultimate teammate. He plays the same everyday and the matchup was good to start the game, so we gave him a chance. He ended up with 7 rebounds and 3 assists in 28 minutes.

"You get the big performances from Kyle, Skyler and Tyler offensively, but that performance from Josh will be one I will remember for a long time."

Skyler's consistency:

"We've got him right about the right amount of minutes because he plays so hard he's not a 35-40 minute a night guy. He really picked us up tonight with some big threes on a night when they were difficult to come by. Without his effort, floor presence and energy this would have been tough."

"Kyle has an unbelievable game that sets a record. That is absolutely amazing. But I hope we're not to the point where that's how he needs to play in order for us to be successful. I love that he's on it, he's doing it, but hopefully we can grow a little bit and we need to take those types of efforts and use them to continue winning."

Josh Sharp

When did you know you'd be starting:

"During practice yesterday I started taking some reps with that first group. They were trying to work around how they were going to work me in."

Getting back up to speed:

"It has been a while this season, but it felt good and I was just trying to go in and help any way I could."

Rebounding:

"As a group we've been talking about it a long time, especially on the defensive end and not giving them extra opportunities. It has been a focus for a while. Especially going into this game it was one of our main points and it's good to see that we were able to do that and we'll have to keep doing it going forward."

Thursday:

"It wasn't time to freak out, but when you get knocked down you have to get back up. As a team, we realized that and that's going to go for our whole season. We want to finish this thing strong and see where we can end up and what we can do."

Learned about team:

"We're all competitors and we're going to fight even if it's a harder track and there's less room for error. We're going to do everything we can to get where we want to go."

Key home stretch:

"Today is a day we've got to to build on and each game we have to get better, even though its the end of the season we still have to improve and build upon what we did today."
