Collinsworth named WCC Player of the Week
SAN BRUNO, Calif. – BYU junior guard Kyle Collinsworth has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week after leading the Cougars to wins over Utah State and Hawai'i.
The 91-81 win over Utah State was BYU’s first victory in Logan since 2000, and the 90-70 win vs. Hawaii was at EnergySolutions in Salt Lake City.
Collinsworth averaged 19.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 2.0 steals while shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the free throw line in the two wins. Against Utah State, he had a double-double with 20 points and 10 boards while added four assists, and three steals. He hit a career-best 10 of 10 from the free throw line.
In the win against Hawaii, Collinsworth recorded just the third triple-double in the NCAA this season with 19 points on 8 of 14 shooting, 12 boards and 10 assists while adding two blocks and a steal. He helped the Cougars overcome a slow start in the first half by pacing BYU with 10 points, seven boards and six assists.
