BYU Quotes
Coach Dave Rose:
I'm pleased with what took place tonight. I think there's so many different places that you could start as far as things that we can improve on, but we did a lot of things really well. We got a lot of new guys some time in a game setting, which I think is good. I think we can have a really good week of practice this week and learn from this game. Learn the positive things, learn some things that we really need to improve on and take the next step in this process of getting ready for Long Beach State.
There's something about turning the lights on. It affects everybody a little bit differently. You're watching a guy or two who hasn't played for a year or two because of a mission. You're watching a player or two that sat out last year and didn't have a chance to play. I think there's a lot of things you do in practice everyday where you get into habits and it becomes really comfortable for you. Then you try and transfer that into a game and it takes a little bit of time.
Tyler Haws:
It felt great. You beat up on each other enough during practices and scrimmages. It was fun to get a look in front of a different team. We didn't play that well coming out. It took us a minute to find our rhythm but we got it going.
Dalton Nixon:
Every game's different. You kind of have to figure out how guys are playing you and what you're doing. Find ways to beat their defense. I thought our guys shared the ball really well. We got up and defended guys, got out in transition. It was fun.
