PROVO, Utah – Dave Rose announced today that 6-foot-7 forward Kyle Davis has committed to transfer to BYU from Utah State. A native of Draper, Utah, Davis will sit out the 2014-15 season due to NCAA transfer rules and have two years of eligibility remaining in 2015-16 and 2016-17.

"We're excited to have Kyle join our team," Rose said. "Kyle is a big, strong athlete who can run the floor, rebound and score. He will be a great addition to our front line and will fit perfectly with the guys we have in our program and the style we like to play."

While starting 27 of 29 games played in 2013-14, Davis was Utah State’s fourth leading scorer and second leading rebounder, averaging 9.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. He also shot 50.3 percent from the field and added a team-high 37 blocks. Against BYU on Nov. 30, 2013, at EnergySolutions Arena, Davis scored 16 points on 7 of 11 shooting and added nine rebounds.

For the season, Davis posted seven double-doubles for the Aggies, including an 18-point, 14-rebound effort at Weber State. He registered season highs of 18 points, 15 rebounds (twice), three blocks (seven times) and five assists.

Prior to serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Detroit (2011-2013), Davis played his freshman season at Southern Utah in 2010-11. He averaged 8.5 points, a team-high 5.3 rebounds and 1.0 block per game and shot 55.4 percent from the field. Davis posted season highs of 21 points, 14 boards, five assists and three blocks.

Davis prepped at Alta High School where he led the Hawks to the 5A state title and was named tournament MVP as a senior in 2010. After averaging 18.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, 1.5 steals and 1.3 assists, Davis was named the 2010 5A MVP and region 4 MVP.
