Injury ends Collinsworth's season

PROVO, Utah – BYU sophomore guard Kyle Collinsworth will have season-ending surgery early next week to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee. He suffered the injury in the second half of Tuesday's West Coast Conference Championship game against Gonzaga.

Collinsworth is anticipated to make a full recovery and return to practice in the fall.

Collinsworth was named to the All-WCC First Team and the WCC All-Tournament Team this season. He led the Cougars in rebounding (8.1 rebounds per game) and assists (4.6 assists per game) and was second on the team in scoring (14.0 points per game) and steals (1.7 steals per game).

The 6-foot-6 inch guard from Provo, Utah, played as a freshman in 2010-11 and helped BYU advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. Collinsworth served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Russia from 2011 to 2013.
