Quotes

BYU head coach Dave Rose

"It's a great team win. All wins are really good, but when your guys play so hard, and everything came really difficult tonight – there was nothing easy. It had a whole different feel to the game than the last couple of games in the Marriott Center where we scored the ball well."

"We had a tough time getting things to go well but our guys just battled and made so many plays, but we had to make every play that we made."

Nate Austin

"It was a game we had to win and we did it as a team. Guys hit shots, guys got rebounds and we got stops as a team. We were playing desperate. We played for the win and we got it."

Matt Carlino

About San Francisco:

"They play really hard and they're really confident, so the road doesn't phase them very much. I think they play hard so they're not going to back down ever. If you make a run they're not going to just give up."

Carrying the team offensively:

"I was just doing what I can, trying to control the team and get us in our sets. I had some open looks, so I took (them)."

Getting the ball to Tyler:

"Tyler is such a big threat, even when he's not on, he's still such a big part of our offense because he creates such tough match-ups for the other team which lends itself to offensive rebounds."

Walters

"There are two teams in our league that have that size and that athleticism. When you talk about Mika, Sharp, Austin, they’re a really big team across the board. I thought Carlino gave them a great lift. Those two 3s really hurt us and got them going. A team at times can start to doubt themselves, but Carlino didn’t let them do that."

"It was a great game. Hopefully people really enjoyed it. I hope to be a part of a lot more of those type of games. We haven’t had a lot of those this year on the road. This is the first time our guys really stepped to them and said, ‘Okay, we’re playing tonight. We’re going to bring it.’ So we made a step in the right direction. Of course you get the loss and you’re disappointed about that, but we took a step forward as a team tonight. We’ve just got to keep moving forward."
