Haws finished with 15 points and an assist. It was the 32nd straight game he has scored in double digits. His current streak is tied for ninth longest at BYU with Dave Eastis.

Kyle Collinsworth

Collinsworth totaled 19 points, four rebounds and three steals.

Eric Mika

Mika finished with 11 points and four rebounds before he fouled out with 3:29 left in the game.

Mika scored in double figures for the 16th straight game. The streak is the second longest in BYU history for a freshman behind Danny Ainge's 24 straight. Mika's 16 games scoring in double figures is tied for 9th most for a freshman with Michael Vranes.

Matt Carlino

Carlino finished with 17 points, three rebounds, two steals and an assist. He scored 10 points in the first half to lead the Cougars in the first half. He was 3 of 6 from behind the arc, his second straight game hitting three 3-pointers. With his two steals, Carlino passed Brandon Davies and Russell Larson for 8th in career steals.

Nate Austin

Austin finished with eight rebounds and a block. It was the fourth-straight game where Austin has pulled down at least seven rebounds.

Skyler Halford

Halford finished with 18 points, three rebounds, three steals and an assist. He scored 14 of those points in the second half, the most he's scored in the second half this season. Halford made 11 of 12 free throws. Haws was the last to make 10 or more free throws when he did it against LMU last week.

Josh Sharp

Sharp grabbed five rebounds, recorded a block and an assist.

Team Notes

BYU started Collinsworth, Halford, Haws, Austin and Mika for the second time this season. The Cougars are now 2-0 with those five starters.

It was the seventh-straight game where BYU had four or more double digit scorers (Carlino, Haws, Collinsworth, Mika and Halford). The last time the Cougars had five double digit scorers was against Oregon in December.

Over the last four games, BYU has shot better than 70 percent from the free-throw line and has scored 80 or more points in every game.

Runs

A 7-0 run gave BYU a 20-17 lead halfway through the first half. Collinsworth and Sharp each hit a shot, while Carlino nailed a 3-pointer from the wing.

A 9-2 run stretched BYU's lead to nine with just under 10 minutes left. Collinsworth scored seven points and Halford added two more.

BYU grabbed their biggest lead of the game with a 4-0 run. All four points came at the free-throw line with less than four minutes to go. Halford hit three straight free throws and Haws added the fourth.

BYU head coach Dave Rose

"We're glad they're close games because that means we've got a chance to win them. A lot of things went really well for us tonight. In the first half, we were really dialed in and executed our gameplan, but we were slow to the ball and we weren't ourselves. They got a lot of second chance opportunities, but our guys were actually dialed in guarding. We just needed more energy and more effort. That second half is a good way for us to play. We guarded well, I thought we executed well in the half court, we shot free throws well and we rebounded the ball very well."

Second chance opportunities:

"The guys were really bothered by it. We talked about adjustments and things we needed to do, but it wasn't Xs and Os, the guys were engaged and involved in our gameplan. When the ball hit the rim, (San Francisco) was more excited to go get it and find it. The guys fixed that and came out and played well in the second half."

Only five assists:

"A lot of those points are from the foul line. They kind of have a no layup rule where when you get right around the basket they're going to make you earn it, especially at the free-throw line.

"A lot if it has to do with the way they guard you. It's hard to run your sets. When you come off those sets you have a quick second to deliver the ball and score, but there's another guy open and another guy open. We were really unselfish. We shared the ball and dribble penetrated that thing to the rim, got fouled and made a lot of baskets right at the rim."

Free throws:

"Tonight, especially in that second half, when you see those things going in and the scoreboard ticks, it feels like it's supposed to feel.

Rebounding:

"We were outrebounded by 14 in the first half and closed that down a little bit in the second half. It was a total change in the things that were causing us problems and we still stayed with pretty good execution. We kind of flipped our gameplan and stayed away from help, because once you give help they find those 3-point shooters."

Skyler Halford

"We had some uncharacteristic numbers as we were looking at it earlier. The assists being one of them. Honestly it is a grinder on the road. You have to take what comes your way and find a way to get the win."

"It's a big road win for us. Any win in this conference is going to be big and especially on the road we've got to take it to these teams and show that we can win on the road and protect our home court."

On rebounding in the second half:

"That was probably the biggest focus, that and coming out with more energy and competing. We weren't competing as well as we could on the boards. I thought we were doing well defensively staying with people, but it was the second and third efforts in the first half where we weren't getting those rebounds. In the second half, we came out with more energy and were knocking guys over and we were trying to make a play. That helped us out a lot on those rebounds."

Free throws:

"Those points are really important for us, especially on the road. You've got to knock the free throws down and our team did a good job of doing that."

Perimeter defense:

"That was definitely a high priority in our game plan. We were trying to keep them off that 3-point line. That was a big focus and I felt like we did decent. We did pretty well trying to limit their opportunities. When they did get those shots and they came off we needed to rebound and we did that in the second half."
