Player Notes

Tyler Haws

Haws scored 30 or more points for the second straight game to lead the Cougars. He finished with 31 points, four rebounds, three steals, two blocks and an assist.

Haws passed Jonathan Tavernari for 13th on the career scoring list in the first half. Haws now has 1,546 career points and trails Lee Cummard by 23 points for 12th. His 20-point night was the 40th of his career which is good for fifth all-time at BYU. His 30-point effort ties him with John Fairchild for No. 7 in career 30-point games. Haws ran his consecutive games scoring in double figures streak to 31, good for 10th place all-time at BYU.

Kyle Collinsworth

Collinsworth recorded one of everything totalling a career-high 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals. He missed his second straight double-double by one rebound.

Nate Austin

Pulled down nine rebounds for the second straight game. He also added two points and an assist and a steal.

Josh Sharp

Sharp finished with a season-high 10 points, four rebounds and an assist.

Matt Carlino

Carlino finished with 18 points, four rebounds and two steals off the bench. His 18 points is the most by a Cougar coming off the bench this season. Carlino passed Lee Cummard and tied Russell Larson for 9th on the career steals list with his two steals.

Anson Winder

Winder finished with six points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal.

Team Notes

Collinsworth, Halford, Haws, Austin and Sharp started for the second straight game. BYU is now 2-0 with that starting lineup.

For the sixth straight game BYU had at least four players score in double figures. Carlino, Collinsworth, Haws and Sharp broke double digits for the Cougars.

BYU shot 63 percent from the field in the second half, the third highest mark this season and the first half above 60 percent since the second half against Prairie View A&M.

In the first game against Loyola Marymount earlier this season, Evan Payne scored 27 points. The Cougars held him to just four in 27 minutes on Saturday night.

Runs

BYU went on a 13-3 run to tie the game at 33. The Cougars had trailed by as much as 10. Carlino scored nine points during the run and Collinsworth added four points.

BYU took a 47-42 lead with 16:45 left in the second half after a 10-0 run. Collinsworth scored three points on a free throw and a layup, Carlino hit a 3-pointer and Haws scored two straight buckets to give the Cougars their largest lead up to that point.

A 9-0 run pushed the lead to 67-58 as Haws scored four points, Sharp three and Collinsworth two.

The Cougars pushed the lead to 79-62 thanks to an 8-0 run with six points for Haws and two from Winder. BYU put the finishing touches on the game with a 9-0 run that made it 91-65 with under a minute to play. Carlino scored three points, Haws two, Collinsworth two and Worthington two for the largest lead of the game.
