
Halford named WCC Player of the Week

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference has named BYU junior guard Skyler Halford its Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 6, 2014.
Halford led BYU to a conference win over San Diego with a career-high 28 points in his first career start. The Orem, Utah, native hit 11 of 16 from the field, 4 of 8 from three and 2 of 2 from the free throw line as BYU defeated San Diego 87-53. He also added three assists, two rebounds and a steal.
Halford hit two threes during a 12-2 run that turned a 17-15 deficit into a 29-19 lead. He scored seven of BYU’s last nine points of the first half to help the Cougars to a 41-28 lead at intermission. In the second half Halford scored nine of BYU’s first 17 points as the Cougars jumped out to a 58-30 lead. He finished the second half with 13 points.
