Quotes

BYU head coach Dave Rose

"It was pretty obvious what happened. They came out and spanked us early. We had a hard time making shots. They did a good job defensively. They were on fire and we missed some assignments defensively and didn't challenge like we should. Before we knew it the score was spread pretty good and the energy that was being played with was one-sided."

"Once they got that lead and spread the floor and isolated us, Ireland and Payne just controlled the game the rest of the way."

"They made big plays when we'd make a little run at them. We just could not sustain it. It comes down to the defensive end, where we have to be better to start the game. If we're going to make a run to come back, you can't just keep trying to match their score. That's been an issue with our team throughout the year."

On conference play:

"Everybody said how difficult our schedule was in the preseason. The bottom line is we told the guys what's really hard is what we're about to jump into here. It's way more difficult than the games we just played. These league games everybody scouts you, everybody knows you. They know your tendencies. They know how you want to play and they try to make you play a different way."

On Consistency:

"To have a team that's really successful you have to be able to count on certain guys to do certain things every night. That's what we're lacking right now. We don't really know what we can count on going through the lineup and the roster. So that will be our challenge to find what we know we have and what we can count on and hopefully be consistent with that."

Skyler Halford

"LMU played great. You've got to give them credit. We didn't exactly show up in the first half. We got down by 20 or some odd points. We didn't come ready to play I don't think. It's sad. It's tough to take that in. At the same time they were hitting shots and playing really hard. You've got to give them credit."

"I just try to bring it everyday at practice. We've had enough time to let these losses soak in and we need to come out a little better. We need to come out with a little more fire and a little more edge. That's the bottom line. We've got to come together as a team and we've just got play. We've got to play extremely hard at a high level."
