Team USA improves to 2-0 with win over Czech Republic

KAZAN, Russia – Tyler Haws and Team USA improved to 2-0 at the World University Games with a 96-53 win over the Czech Republic on Monday.

The U.S. struggled with its shooting through the first three quarters but made up for it by creating numerous second chance opportunities and playing lockdown defense. Team USA finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds and limited the Czech Republic to 31.3 percent shooting.

After hitting just 35.8 percent from the field through the third quarter, the U.S. hit 11 of 15 from the field (.733) in the fourth quarter to raise its field goal percentage to 42.7 for the game.

Haws came off the bench and played 12 minutes. He totaled two points and one rebound.

The only other group C score from Monday was a 70-53 Australia win over Sweden.
