Bartley signs with BYU

PROVO, Utah – BYU basketball coach Dave Rose announced today that Frank Bartley, IV has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Cougars in 2013-14.

"We’re excited Frank is coming to BYU," Rose said. "He’s a great competitor who works really hard on both ends of the court. He’s an excellent defender and on offense he can create for himself and for his teammates."

Bartley, a 6-foot-3 guard from Baton Rouge, La., comes to BYU via Future College Prep in Carson, Calif. He enjoyed a successful career at Christian Life Academy in Louisiana before reclassifying to play one season at Future College Prep.

At Future College Prep in 2012-13, Bartley led his team to a record of 52-13 overall (50-4 vs. high school teams and other prep academies) and the West Coast Prep Championships with a win over Westwind (Ariz.) in the title game. Bartley averaged team highs of 19.0 points, 3.3 steals and 1.0 blocks and was second in rebounding (8.5) and assists (6.7).

As a senior at Christian Life, Bartley led his team to a 26-7 overall record and the 2012 1A state title. He was named LSWA Class 1A MVP, first-team all-state and District 7-1A co-MVP while averaging 14.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists. As a junior, Bartley earned District 7-1A MVP honors and was named all-state and all-metro.

A two-sport athlete, Bartley also earned all-district honors playing football for Christian Life. As a senior, he posted more than 800 receiving yards.

Bartley is the son of Frank Bartley, III and Janice Bartley and has three sisters. He was also recruited by Auburn, Fordham, Illinois State, George Mason, Gonzaga, Loyola Marymount, LSU, Marquette, New Mexico, San Diego State, Saint Mary's and Utah.
