BYU head coach Dave Rose
“I thought it was a great game. I thought both teams came out and played hard and both teams were really effective offensively.”

“Their guards are so hard to contain. They spread the floor, they drive it, they can shoot it. We were fortunate to be able to score and stay with them. We kept it close at halftime.”

“I thought in the second half our guys made some good adjustments on not actually stopping their penetration, but controlling their penetration and keeping the ball out of the middle to where they couldn’t find shooters. We rebounded the ball really well. We were able to get out and score a few baskets in transition.”

Santa Clara head coach Kerry Keating
“We had the momentum going our way until we gave up a rebound when we were down nine, trying to answer back with some punches in the second half. Then that turned nine into 19 and we just go too deflated and off kilter after that one play. We just couldn’t recover.”

“Like I said at halftime, we can’t turn it over and we can’t give up offensive boards if we want to win on the road - especially here. We did a relatively good job of not turning it over although the exact difference in the game was the amount of points off turnovers.”

BYU Player Quotes

“Everyone was contributing today and Matt caught fire. When guys are hitting shots we’re good at feeding their fire and helping them keep things going. We’re all unselfish guys. That’s why we all play so well together.”

“We just knew we had to step things up defensively. In the first half we gave up some things we were focusing on taking away. They hit a lot of open threes. They have great shooters.”

“I think the pace of our game is getting better. When we can score that many points it’s going to be a good night.”
