Sampson, Stout suspended, withdraw from school
PROVO, Utah (Nov. 8, 2012) — BYU head football coach Bronco Mendenhall today announced senior defensive back Joe Sampson and sophomore linebacker Zac Stout have been suspended from the team for violation of team rules. Both players have withdrawn from school and will not return this season.
Sampson started in eight of nine games this year at free safety with 33 tackles to give him 56 career stops in his two seasons at BYU. Stout appeared in one game at inside linebacker in 2012 with one tackle. He made 21 tackles in 10 games as a true freshman in 2010 before missing the 2011 season due to injury.
