PROVO, Utah — BYU Athletics confirmed today it will play a home-and-home football series with Middle Tennessee slated for the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

The Cougars will open the series at LaVell Edwards Stadium in 2013 and will then travel to Murfreesboro, Tenn., to play the Blue Raiders at Floyd Stadium in 2014.

“We’re pleased to schedule this series with Middle Tennessee,” said BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe. “It fits well with our objective to play in different regions of the country and give our fans an opportunity to see us play in person. It also allows both schools to have a unique travel experience.”

Middle Tennessee is a member of the Sun Belt Conference and has won the Sun Belt Football Championship two times (2001 and 2006). In addition, the Blue Raiders have participated in three bowl games (2006, 2009, and 2010). The two universities have never played in football.
