Jeff Hurst named BYU head athletic football trainer

PROVO, Utah (July 13, 2012) — BYU today announced Jeff Hurst has been named the head football athletic trainer.

 

Hurst has been at BYU since 2005 as an assistant athletic trainer for football and baseball. He graduated from BYU in 2000 with a degree in physical education and later received a master’s degree from BYU in exercise science–sports medicine in 2004.

 

“Jeff is an outstanding athletic trainer,” said BYU director of sports medicine Carolyn Billings. “He has great enthusiasm for the profession and the BYU football program. He does a great job taking care of our student-athletes. We are fortunate to have him at BYU.”

 

Prior to coming to BYU, Hurst served as the head athletic trainer for the Provo Angels, a minor league affiliate of the Anaheim Angels in 2002. He then worked as IHC clinic coordinator and athletic trainer for Utah Valley Sports Medicine at the Utah Valley Hospital where he was named the Utah Athletic Trainers Association’s Clinical Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2004.

 

Jeff is currently in his second term as president of the Utah Athletic Trainers Association Board of Directors and is the Utah representative for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Trainers Association.

 

Hurst lives in Lehi, Utah. He and his wife Kimberly have two daughters and two sons.
