PROVO, Utah -- BYU football head coach Bronco Mendenhall and his wife, Holly, will host the second-annual Cowboy Ball on Saturday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m. MT. The Holly and Bronco Mendenhall Foundation, a non-profit organization created by the Mendenhalls, sponsors the event.

The Cowboy Ball will feature dinner, dancing and a live auction, with proceeds going to benefit the Thursday’s Heroes Program. BYU's coaches and players will be in attendance to mingle and visit with attendees.

Auction items include, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle from the Gridiron Rumble held that morning, a surfing trip to Costa Rica and football away game trips to Boise State, Georgia Tech and Notre Dame.

Guests will hear live music from the band Mister Pickens while enjoying the cowboy-themed atmosphere provided at Stephen’s Foxtrotters Family Farm in Wallsburg, Utah. Those in attendance are encouraged to wear western-themed attire. KSL Radio's "Voice of the Cougars" Greg Wrubell will emcee the event along with other entertainment, including the always popular mechanical bull.

Tickets for the event are $200 per person, available for purchase at www.broncomendenhall.com/2012-cowboy-ball/. Corporate tables are also available upon request at info@broncomendenhall.com.

The Holly and Bronco Mendenhall Foundation aims to provide inspiration, resources and hope to children and families facing significant life challenges.

As part of that initiative, the Foundation supports the Thursday’s Heroes Program. Every week during the college football season, as well as spring practices, an individual or family with special needs is identified and invited to attend a BYU team practice. At the conclusion of practice, “Thursday’s Hero” is introduced and recognized by Bronco and the team.

Always emotional and fulfilling, Bronco and the players are as strengthened and uplifted as the Thursday’s Hero. The Mendenhalls hope to provide emotional and financial support through the continuation of the program.

About his role as BYU’s head coach, Bronco has stated, “It simply wouldn’t be worth it if it wasn’t about more than football.”
