PROVO, Utah — Thanks to a generous sponsorship by Nu Skin Enterprises, and its partnership with IMG College, BYU today announced plans to replace the video walls and scoreboards in the end zones at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

The project will include state-of-art LED video walls in the north and south end zones, as well as LED ribbon boards across the top of both end zones.

“We are delighted to continue our long-standing sponsorship of BYU athletics,” said Truman Hunt, Nu Skin president and chief executive officer. “We are pleased to be in a position to enhance our community and believe these improvements to LaVell Edwards Stadium demonstrate our commitment to the success of Cougar athletics.”

The project is in the final stages of planning. Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2012, with completion projected by the home opener on Sept. 1 versus Washington State.

“We are very thankful to Nu Skin Enterprises for its commitment to athletics and the BYU community,” said Tom Holmoe, BYU director of athletics. “Nu Skin has been a vital partner with BYU for two decades. These new LED video walls will be a great addition to the game-day experience for Cougar fans at LaVell Edwards Stadium.”

Cougar Stadium (renamed LaVell Edwards Stadium in 2000) opened in 1964 with approximately 30,000 seats. Additional seating was soon added to increase the capacity to 35,000 seats. The stadium was expanded to 65,000 seats prior to the 1982 football season. In 1996, a video wall was added to the south end zone and a matrix scoreboard to the north end zone. The north end zone scoreboard was updated in 2008 to include a small video board. Recent upgrades to club seating in LaVell Edwards Stadium makes the current capacity 63,470.
