LEHI, Utah — The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) encourages BYU fans heading to the first home game this season to plan ahead for possible delays through I-15 CORE in Utah County.

Narrowed lanes, restrictions, and reduced speeds remain from Lehi to Spanish Fork. Drivers are encouraged to leave early and allow  for extra travel time when heading to the stadium to be sure they’re in time for the kickoff.

Drivers are advised to plan for heavy delays. UDOT strongly encourages southbound drivers to use the Orem Center Street, 800 North and University Avenue exits. University Parkway is open but heavily congested. Northbound drivers are advised to use the University Avenue exit or State Street to 900 East.

One change that drivers will need to plan for is in Provo, where the southbound off-ramp at Center Street is closed through November.

Drivers will also notice a new traffic configuration in Orem, where the four travel lanes on I-15 have been split into two halves. All four lanes continue on I-15, but motorists wanting to exit in Orem need to stay in the right two lanes.

On game day, UDOT will be working with Orem and Provo to monitor traffic cameras and coordinate signals to help keep vehicles moving. UDOT will also send regular traffic updates to KSL Radio to keep drivers informed of the best routes for getting to and from the stadium.

BYU fans can also subscribe to the I-15 CORE text service for traffic updates. Text "i15" to 83043 for up-to-date construction information.

UDOT encourages drivers to stay informed about the latest I-15 CORE construction by signing up for regular email updates, or becoming a fan of I-15 CORE on Facebook or Twitter. For more information, visit udot.utah.gov/i15core.

The 24-mile I-15 CORE freeway reconstruction project is on schedule for completion in December 2012. When complete, the project will add two travel lanes in each direction, rebuild or replace 63 bridges and 10 freeway interchanges, and completely replace the existing asphalt roadway with 40-year concrete pavement.
