Quotes

Check back often to see what players, coaches, legends and media members are saying during media day.

Bronco Mendenhall: “I have extended my contract for three more years. I am absolutely satisfied with my job here and I have been treated more than fairly. I am very realistic and there is a lot on the line going independent, so I want to ensure that I am worthy of my position. I want to give everything I have for those three years and lead the charge."

Dave Brown: "This is a great moment for us. Anyone that has watched us over the years knows how many great games BYU has given us and we’re really excited about the opportunity to partner with BYU broadcasting and to get BYU football in front of as big of an audience as we can.”

Bronco Mendenhall: “It is the greatest strength I have to coach to and recruit to. To coach kids with those standards is the greatest opportunity in my life. Can you win games with these standards? We are doing it. We want more people throughout the world to see who we really are. Why move independent and stay the same? This is a defining movement in the institution's history. To not take the risk, that wouldn't be right."

Tom Holmoe: "Bronco is an incredible leader and one of the best coaches in the country. He is committed to the program and we are committed to him as the leader of our football team. Bronco is loyal to this team and the university and does things the right way, on and off the field. We are excited for the future as we begin our journey as an independent.”

Corby Eason: "Our mindset as a team is a little bit different without a conference championship to play for. We have to focus on this season on a game-to-game basis. We have a chance to play some great teams from the SEC and the Big 12 and it will give us a chance to prove ourselves against some of the top teams in the nation."

Steve Young: "I think there is all kinds of pressure on the leaders of this team and we are all wishful that we could do more to help support you as you do this. It is vital that BYU hits the ground running and the conference used to give us a soft place to land that we don’t have any more. Just know that everyone that has ever been associated with BYU will be behind this team 100%. This season is for the mentally tough. There will all sorts of new techniques and there will be a lot of newness to the season."

Matt Reynolds: "There are so many things to work on and the more you play the more you realize you have to work on. There a lot of things I can do that will help me be the best tackle I can be. I can prove my ability be helping this team win games this season."

Jake Heaps: "One of the biggest reasons I came here was because of the tradition BYU has of great offensive lineman. I was lucky to have such a good offensive line my freshman year that kept me protected and helped me improve."
