Terence Brown Named to Rimington Trophy Watch List

PROVO, Utah -- BYU senior center Terence Brown has been named to the 2011 Rimington Trophy Spring Watch List.

The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the nation’s most outstanding center.

A 6-foot-4, 330-pound native of Summerville, S.C., Brown has started every game the past two seasons for the Cougars. He started at right guard as a sophomore before moving to center this past season. Brown is one of four returning starters on the 2011 BYU offensive line.

Brown is among 42 players selected by the Rimington Trophy committee for inclusion on the 2011 Spring Watch List. A three-year letterman, Brown received All-Mountain West Conference honorable mention in 2010 and College Football News All-Sophomore Team honorable mention in 2009.

The winner of the 2011 Rimington Trophy will be honored at a banquet in Lincoln, Neb., on Jan. 14, 2012. Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982.

Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised more than $2 million. The 12-year-old award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised more than $86 million for CF Research.

With 18 starters returning overall, BYU opens fall camp in August in preparation for the program’s first year as a football independent with television partner ESPN.

The 2011 schedule includes opponents from the Southeastern Conference, Big 12, Pac-12, Conference USA, Western Athletic Conference, Mountain West Conference and Big Sky. The 12-game schedule kicks off at Ole Miss on Sept. 3 and concludes at Hawaii on Dec. 3.

Season ticket packages reflect the team’s seven-game home schedule in 2011, one more contest than last year, with season ticket package per-game prices staying the same as the 2010 season.
