PROVO, Utah -- The BYU football team focused on their hurry-up offense in a short practice on Monday.

After the Cougars' usual gauntlet of position drills, the offense worked on its running game against the defense on an 11-on-11 drill. Senior running backs JJ Di Luigi and Bryan Kariya and sophomore Joshua Quezada each had multiple carries.

The defense held up to the attack, giving up no more than five yards on any one run and garnering a sack when junior linebacker Uona Kaveinga broke through the line for a sack.

The team followed up by running a two-minute drill beginning at the 20-yard line with two timeouts in the hopes of scoring a touchdown. Sophomore quarterback Jake Heaps led the first segment, completing the drill with a six-yard pass to sophomore wide receiver Cody Hoffman.

In the second segment, junior quarterback Riley Nelson also helped the offense score a touchdown, completing a 16-yard pass to redshirt fresman Bryan Sampson for the score.

BYU ended practice by running a one-minute drill starting on the offense's own 35-yard line. After the defense held the offense to just ten yards and the minute almost up, Heaps went for it all with a 55-yard pass that was caught by Hoffman as the buzzer sounded.
