Reynolds Placed on Outland Trophy Watch List
PROVO -- Adding to a growing list of preseason honors, BYU junior offensive lineman Matt Reynolds has been named to the Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List, an award presented annually to the nation's best offensive or defensive lineman.
Reynolds has already been named a First Team Preseason Football All-American by Consensus Draft Services and a Second Team Preseason All-American in Lindy's Football Preview.
As a sophomore last season, Reynolds was a Mountain West Conference First Team, Academic All-MWC, and College Football News All-Sophomore First Team selection.
The Outland Trophy has been awarded annually by the Football Writers Association of America since 1946. It is named after the late John Outland, a lineman at Pennsylvania at the turn of the century.
BYU has had two Outland Trophy winners, with offensive guard Mohammed Elewonibi claiming the trophy in 1989 and defensive lineman Jason Buck winning in 1986.
The 2010 winner will be announced on The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show on Dec. 9. The Outland Trophy presentation banquet, sponsored by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee, will be on Jan. 13 in Omaha, Neb.
