BYU No. 14 in BCS Standings

PROVO -- BYU moved up to No. 14 in the BCS Standings and No. 13 and No. 16 in the national polls this week after its 26-23 overtime victory over nationally ranked Utah on Saturday.

The Cougars jumped five spots in the BCS Standings after being ranked No. 19 last week. BYU moved up two positions in the polls, receiving a No. 13 ranking in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and Harris Interactive Poll and a No. 16 ranking in The Associated Press Top 25.

BYU has been among the nation's top-25 teams during 33 of the last 34 weeks dating back to November 2007. BYU is 158-46 when ranked in the Top 25 and has won 27 of its last 32 games as a ranked team, dating back to 2006.

At 10-2 and 7-1 in the Mountain West Conference, the Cougars have become the first teams in BYU history to record four consecutive seasons of 10 or more wins. BYU finished the regular season in second place in the MWC behind No. 4 TCU. The Horned Frogs finished the regular season 12-0 and are joined by BYU and No. 25 Utah as MWC members in the current BCS Standings.

Overall, the Pac-10 has five teams in the BCS Standings, while the MWC, SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC and Big East each have three teams and the WAC and Conference USA are represented by one team apiece.

Florida, Alabama and Texas remain the top three teams in the BCS Standings. The highest ranked teams in the BCS Standings from each of the conferences include No. 1 Florida (SEC), No. 3 Texas (Big 12), No. 4 TCU (MWC), No. 5 Cincinnati (Big East), No. 6 Boise State (WAC), No. 7 Oregon (Pac-10), No. 8 Ohio State (Big Ten), No. 10 Georgia Tech (ACC) and No. 21 Houston (Conference USA). The Mid-American and Sun Belt conferences and independents are not represented in the current BCS Standings.
