BYU Moves Up in BCS, Polls

PROVO -- BYU moved up to No. 19 in the BCS Standings and No. 15 and No. 18 in the national polls this week after its 38-21 victory over the Air Force Academy on Saturday.

The Cougars jumped three spots to No. 15 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and Harris Interactive Poll and advanced one position to No. 18 in The Associated Press Top 25. BYU also moved up three rankings in the BCS Standings.

BYU has been among the nation's top-25 teams during 32 of the last 33 weeks dating back to November 2007. BYU is 157-46 when ranked in the Top 25 and has won 26 of its last 31 games as a ranked team, dating back to 2006.

At 9-2 and 6-1 in the Mountain West Conference, the Cougars have started the season with a 9-2 or better record four consecutive years—a first in program history.

Florida, Alabama and Texas remain the top three teams in the BCS Standings. BYU is one of three MWC teams in the national rankings. TCU remains at No. 4 in the polls and the BCS Standings. Utah stayed at No. 21 in the BCS and is ranked No. 19 in coaches' and Harris and No. 22 in AP.

The highest ranked teams in the BCS Standings from each of the conferences include No. 1 Florida (SEC), No. 3 Texas (Big 12), No. 4 TCU (MWC), No. 5 Cincinnati (Big East), No. 6 Boise State (WAC), No. 7 Georgia Tech (ACC), No. 8 Oregon (Pac-10), No. 10 Ohio State (Big Ten) and No. 23 Houston (Conference USA). The Mid-American and Sun Belt conferences and independents are not represented in the current BCS Standings.
