Through the years, BYU has developed many of the best tight ends in NCAA history. From Clay Brown in 1980 through Dennis Pitta in 2008, 13 Cougars have earned All-America honors at tight end, including Gordon Hudson who was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2009.

On Nov. 28 vs. Utah, Pitta passed Austin Collie as BYU's all-time career receptions leader with 216 catches. In the same game he also broke the NCAA record for most career yards for a tight with 2,856.

Pitta holds nearly every BYU tight end record including receptions in a season (83) and a career (216). He also holds the BYU record for consecutive games with at least one reception (42).

The senior tight end was recently named consensus All-Mountain West Confereence for the second year in a row. he was also named first-team midseason All-America by SI.com, CBSSports.com, Sporting News and Rivals.com.
