BYU Maintains Rankings, Moves Up in Coaches' Poll

PROVO -- BYU moved up one spot in the USA Today Coaches' Poll while staying put in The Associated Press Top 25 and other polls released Sunday. The Cougars are ranked No. 19 in the coaches' poll while remaining at No. 18 in AP and Harris Interactive and No. 17 in the Legends Poll.

The Cougars have been ranked in the weekly polls 28 straight times since last entering the Top 25 on Nov. 18, 2007. BYU’s consecutive stay in the national rankings is its longest since the 1989-91 seasons.

Florida maintained its hold on the top spot in the polls while Alabama moved ahead of Texas to receive the No. 2 ranking by AP and Legends. The Longhorns stayed No. 2 in the coaches' and Harris polls.

Three Mountain West Conference teams are ranked in the AP Top 25 with TCU at No. 12, BYU at No. 18 and Utah re-entering the rankings at No. 24. The Horned Frogs are ranked No. 8 in the coaches' poll, No. 9 in Legends and No. 10 in Harris Interactive.

BYU is now 153-45 when ranked in the Top 25 and has won 22 of its last 26 games as a ranked team, dating back to 2006.

The Cougars (5-1, 2-0 MWC) travel to play San Diego State (2-3, 0-1 MWC) in San Diego on Saturday in a 3 p.m. PT (4 p.m. MT) matchup being broadcast nationally on The Mtn.
