PROVO -- BYU moved up in this week’s national rankings to No. 18 in The Associated Press Top 25 and No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll. The Cougars also rank No. 17 and No. 18 in the Harris Interactive and Legends polls, respectively.

Coming off a 35-17 victory over Utah State, BYU advanced two spots in this week’s AP and Harris Interactive polls, one position in the coaches’ poll and three places in the Legends rankings.

The Cougars have been ranked in the weekly polls 27 straight times since last entering the Top 25 on Nov. 18, 2007. BYU’s consecutive stay in the national rankings is its longest since the 1989-91 seasons.

Florida, Texas and Alabama maintained their locks on the top three spots in the two major polls for the third straight week. LSU remains at No. 4 again this week while Virginia Tech jumped Boise State into fifth in both polls. After consensus with the Broncos at No. 6 and USC remaining at No. 7, Cincinnati, Ohio State and TCU complete the AP top 10 while the coaches’ place the Buckeyes at No. 8, followed by the Horned Frogs and then the Bearcats.

TCU and BYU again represent the Mountain West Conference in the Top 25. The Horned Frogs also rank No. 9 in Legends and No. 10 in Harris Interactive.

BYU is now 152-45 when ranked in the Top 25 and has won 21 of its last 25 games as a ranked team, dating back to 2006.

The Cougars (4-1, 1-0 MWC) travel to play UNLV (2-3, 0-1 MWC) in Las Vegas on Saturday in a 7 p.m. PT (8 p.m. MT) matchup being broadcast nationally on The Mtn.
