PROVO -- BYU is ranked No. 20 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 and No. 21 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll after improving to 3-1 with a 42-23 victory over previously unbeaten Colorado State on Saturday. The Cougars enter the season's first Harris Interactive College Football Poll at No. 19.

BYU, which fell one spot in both the AP and coaches' polls this week, has been ranked in the weekly polls 26 straight times since last entering the Top 25 on Nov. 18, 2007. The Cougars' consecutive stay in the national rankings is their longest since the 1989-91 seasons.

Florida, Texas and Alabama maintained their locks on the top three spots in the two major polls but from there changes were plentiful as three consensus top-10 teams from a week ago suffered defeats. With Mississippi, Penn State and California all losing, LSU, Boise State, Virginia Tech, USC, Oklahoma and Ohio State now occupy No. 4 through No. 9 in both polls with Cincinnati at No. 10 in AP and TCU at No. 10 in the coaches' poll.

TCU and BYU represent the Mountain West Conference in the Top 25 again this week. The Horned Frogs also rank No. 11 in AP and Harris Interactive while rating 10th in the Legends Poll. The Cougars are ranked No. 21 in the Legends Poll after debuting last week at No. 23.

With a 3-1 record, the Cougars are now 151-45 when ranked in the Top 25 and have won 20 of their last 24 games as a ranked team, dating back to 2006.

The Cougars will host Utah State (1-2) on Friday in LaVell Edwards Stadium to conclude their nonconference schedule. Friday's game will be broadcast live on The Mtn. beginning at 7 p.m. MT.
