BYU Implements Fan Text Messaging System for 2009 Football Season

In response to a conference-wide initiative adopted by the Mountain West Conference Board of Directors, Brigham Young University announced today the implementation of a fan text messaging system at LaVell Edwards Stadium for the 2009 football season.

The system allows fans to communicate directly with the stadium’s dispatch center if assistance is needed in dealing with security or guest service concerns during a game. A fan will no longer need to leave their seat to find an usher or police officer to report an issue, but can text the keyword BYU, plus a message and the location to 41513. Standard text messaging rates apply.

“We are excited to utilize this innovative technology to enhance the fan experience at LaVell Edwards Stadium,” said Tom Holmoe, BYU’s Athletic Director. “The implementation of this state of the art text messaging system allows us to increase our efficiency in responding to our fans’ concerns, which will both improve our security and boost the overall experience of attending BYU football games.”

The system will be in place when BYU plays its first home game against Florida State on September 19 at 5:00 p.m. The system will also be utilized at the Marriott Center during basketball games.
