PROVO -- BYU senior tight end Dennis Pitta is among the 37 individuals selected to the “Watch List” for the 2009 Biletnikoff Award, which recognizes the top wide receiver in college football, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced Tuesday.

Pitta, a two-time first-team all-Mountain West Conference performer, ranked third in the MWC and 21st nationally with 1,083 receiving yards in 2008. His total receiving yards also ranked second among tight ends in the Football Bowl Subdivision behind only James Casey of Rice (1,329 yards).

The senior from Moorpark, Calif., has recorded four 100-plus yard receiving games in 2008, including the best single-game performance by a tight end with 213 yards against Northern Iowa on Aug. 30, 2008.

Joining Pitta on the watch list are Colorado State's Rashaun Greer and UNLV's Ryan Wolfe.

The winner of the 17th Biletnikoff Award will be announced as part of ESPN's College Football Awards Show on December 10th. The award will be officially presented to the winner at the annual Biletnikoff Award dinner, hosted by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club, on February 12, 2009.
