PROVO -- Due to record sales, BYU football season tickets sales are being placed on hold to accommodate other ticketing requirements while single-game sales are slated to begin Aug. 10, BYU announced Monday.

Season tickets for the 2009 BYU football season have already surpassed the final season ticket sales for all of last season with six weeks still remaining before the Cougars open the season against Oklahoma in Arlington, Texas on Sept. 5. BYU’s home opener is on Sept. 19 against Florida State.

“Season tickets have sold at a record pace for the 2009 season," BYU ticket manager Clark Livesy said. "To date, 39,571 season ticket packages have been sold, which is nearly 200 more than the total sold by the end of the 2008 season.”

Livesy said that due to the record number of tickets sold, season ticket sales are being put on hold to accommodate obligations for student all-sport passes and the visiting team allotments for high-demand games such as Florida State and Utah.

Single-game tickets will go on sale via BYUtickets.com beginning on Aug. 10. Single-game sales will be made available according to the following schedule:

Monday, Aug. 10—Legacy Cougar Club members

Tuesday, Aug. 11—Cougar Club members

Wednesday, Aug. 12—Season Ticket holders

Thursday, Aug. 13—General Public

Student All-Sport Passes can be purchased via BYUtickets.com from Aug. 3-20. Students must be a registered student at BYU to purchase the All-Sport Pass.

LaVell Edwards Stadium has been sold out for each of the past 12 games. In 2009, BYU hosts Florida State (Sept. 19), Colorado State (Sept. 26), Utah State (Oct. 2), TCU (Oct. 24), Air Force (Nov. 21) and Utah (Nov. 28).
