BYU Players Make Preseason All-America List
PROVO -- BYU’s Dennis Pitta and Jan Jorgensen have been named to the Preseason All-America List released by NationalChamps.net, while Max Hall and Harvey Unga received honorable mention on the list. The site also placed Hall at No. 7 among its top candidates for the 2009 Heisman Trophy.
Pitta, a senior tight end, was chosen as a second-team honoree, while Jorgensen, a senior defensive end, was a third-team selection. Hall, a senior, and Unga, a junior, were among the players making the honorable mention list at their respective positions of quarterback and running back.
This is the 10th season NationalChamps.net has released preseason All-America honors with its annual College Football Preview.
Last season Jorgensen became the all-time sack leader in the Mountain West Conference while Pitta was named a third-team All-American by Rivals.com and earned honorable mention from SportsIllustrated.com and College Football News. Hall also received honorable mention from SportsIllustrated.com, while Unga was a sophomore team honorable-mention selection by College Football News.
