Preparation Continues on Day Two
PROVO -- The BYU football team continued its preparation for the upcoming 2009 season on day two of spring practice.
After about an hour of position-specific drills, both sides of the ball came together for some light 11-on-11 work. The Cougars’ first-team offense found the endzone once on an eight-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Max Hall to senior tight end Andrew George. George led all receivers on the day with three catches for 32 yards, including his touchdown reception.
The first drive of the day consisted of back-to-back completions from Hall to wide receivers Luke Ashworth and O’Neill Chambers. Hall continued to spread the ball throughout the limited-contact drills, finding Harvey Unga, Tyler Kozlowski and Dennis Pitta.
Sophomore wide receiver Stephen Covey caught several passes from quarterbacks Brenden Gaskins and Parker Mangum, including a 12-yard completion to convert on third-down.
Defensively, outside linebacker Jordan Pendleton recorded a sack against Hall in the first series. Collectively the defensive side of the ball successfully held the offense out of the endzone on 6-of-7 attempts.
Hall remained a perfect 8-of-8 on the day, passing for 71 yards and one touchdown.
Spring practice will resume on Thursday and will be closed to the public.
