BYU Quarterback to Serve LDS Church Mission

PROVO, Utah -- BYU freshman quarterback Matt Berry today announced he will serve a 24-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

"I've always believed serving a mission for the Church is the right thing to do for me personally," Berry said. "This is something I have been looking forward to and believe it's important to serve the Lord, as well as other people."

It is anticipated Berry will enter the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah around the end of January and return to BYU in time to participate in the 2002 season.
