BYU signs Keelan Marion

PROVO, Utah – BYU football has signed UConn wide receiver transfer Keelan Marion.

Marion, a 6-foot, 200-pound product out of Atlanta, Georgia, joins the Cougars with three years of eligibility after a Covid-19 2020 season where UConn did not play any games, starring in 2021 as the Huskies top receiver and redshirting the 2022 season, playing in four regular-season games due to injury and UConn's bowl game.

In 2021, Marion started all 12 games for the Huskies as a redshirt freshman at receiver leading the team in receiving yards with 474 on 28 catches. He found the end zone five times during the season. Marion had a career-high 102 receiving yards on four catches and a touchdown at Vanderbilt in 2021 and reeled in four catches for 80 yards and a touchdown at Massachusetts that year. He also averaged 12.4 yards on 10 punt returns during the season, including a long return of 45 yards.

Despite Marion's 2022 campaign being slowed by injury, he appeared in four regular-season games, averaging 22.3 yards per catch on four receptions, including a 13-yard touchdown reception in the season opener against Utah State. Marion also participated in the Myrtle Beach Bowl, the Huskies first bowl game since 2015 and caught two passes for 69 yards against Marshall.

Marion played for head coach Christian Hunnicutt at Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. He also played one season at Palmetto Prep in Columbia, South Carolina, in 2019. Marion also lettered in basketball and served as a team captain at Palmetto Prep.
