Offensive lineman Caleb Etienne joins football program
PROVO, Utah – BYU has added Oklahoma State offensive lineman transfer Caleb Etienne (pronounced E-tee-en) to the football program for the 2023 season.
The 6-foot-8, 325-pound Etienne joins the Cougars after starting all 13 games for the Cowboys in 2022 at left tackle. Etienne will have two years of eligibility remaining after starting his college career at Fort Scott Community College in 2019.
A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Etienne helped Oklahoma State's offense rank No. 21 in passing yards and reach the program's 17th consecutive bowl game last season. He was also named to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
Etienne went to Oklahoma State in 2021 as the No. 2-rated junior college offensive tackle by 247Sports. He played in three games and preserved a redshirt year in his first season before earning a starting role for the 2022 season with the Cowboys.
Etienne was an NJCAA All-American in 2019 as a freshman at Fort Scott. He went on to Butler Community College but the 2020 season was cancelled due to Covid-19.
A graduate of Warren Easton High School in Louisiana, Etienne was ranked the No. 31 recruit out of Louisiana and helped the Eagles to a 12-3 record as a senior while being coached by Jerry Phillips.
Etienne joins a group of 13 transfers new to the program for the 2023 season at BYU. Most recently, the Cougars added linebacker AJ Vongphachanh from Utah State. Read more about the veteran linebacker and the previous additions.
