PROVO, Utah — Due to future scheduling adjustments needed with BYU entering the Big 12 in 2023, the Cougars' football game with Utah State scheduled for Sept. 29, 2022, will be the the last in the near future between the two in-state schools.

"As we prepare to enter Big 12 membership, we’ve had to make many adjustments to nonconference games on our future schedules," said BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe. "We are grateful to Utah State for being a willing partner in scheduling games throughout the years, especially the last decade as we’ve navigated independence. While we don’t have the Aggies scheduled beyond 2022 at this point, we will continue to work together to play this in-state game again in the future."

BYU and Utah State were scheduled to play from 2023 to 2026 as part of BYU's future 12-game independent schedules prior to being invited to join the Big 12 Conference. The Cougars begin playing a conference schedule in 2023.
